My bedtime ritual is my favourite! I start by plugging in my phone and setting the alarm for the next day. Once I start my bedtime ritual, no screens are allowed. Next, I light a candle or turn on my diffuser with a calming scent, take a shower (I'm a night shower girly – no better feeling than being clean and getting into clean linens), do my skincare routine, and put on cosy sleepwear. Finally, I make a cup of sleepytime tea and get in bed. It takes me a bit to wind down, so I'll either do a crossword with my husband or read.
What sleep or beauty products do you swear by that you won't go a night without?
My mom just got me a weighted sleep mask by kitsch and let me tell you, it has been a GAME changer. I also love the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray by this works and I never go a night without my Bed Thread linen!
What is your solution for those nights you simply can't fall asleep?
Hmm...usually a meditation or a crossword puzzle does the trick!
What are your tips for a well-styled bedroom and making it sleep-friendly?
1. Earth tones, earth tones, earth tones!!!
2. A statement lamp for your nightstand, so that you don't have to get out of bed to turn off the light.
3. No TV in the bedroom.
4. Keep it simple! I wouldn't consider myself a minimalist, but when it comes to my bedroom I try to have as little clutter as possible. Every couple of months, I take absolutely everything out of my bedroom and only put the pieces that bring me joy back in. I either find a new place for what's left or donate it.
What are three things (besides coffee) that help you when you're too tired to function?
Music, a quick workout, or journaling about things I'm looking forward to that day.
What time does your alarm go off in the morning? Can you walk us through your morning routine?
My alarm goes off at 6:00 am. I keep a glass of water on my nightstand so that I can drink a glass before I even get out of bed. After that, I turn on music because it gets me moving. Next, I do the 5-minute journal, wash my face, brush my teeth, and get dressed. If I have time, I'll drink a cup of coffee and chat with my husband. Finally, I eat breakfast and I'm out the door for work by 7:30 am.
What do you normally eat for breakfast to kickstart your day?
Lots of water, coffee, and avocado toast with sliced tomatoes or a smoothie depending on my mood.
