Having air conditioning in summer is somewhat of a luxury – especially if you’re lucky enough to have one in your bedroom.

But for most of us, hot summer nights are braved with nothing but the balmy air coming through our windows and the heat of our skin radiating off our bodies and into our beds.

For those entering the warmer months without the luxury of crisp air conditioned air, here are eight simple hacks that will instantly cool down your bedroom so you can get a restful night’s sleep.

1. Turn off the lights

They may be small, but the glow emitted by our lights and lamps plays a big role in the overall temperature of our rooms. Try to keep as few lights on as possible to keep the temperature down in your bedroom. If you like, replace your bedside light bulbs with ones with a lower wattage so you don’t feel any extra heat from having them turned on.

2. Revise your bedding
