24 Australian Interior Designers, Stylists and Architects to Follow on Instagram

1. Simone Haag

One of the most highly sought interior designers in Australia, Simone Haag nails the traditional meets modern brief every time. Most of all, Simone adheres to a highly personalised approach to design for her clients. "I like to make spaces that respond to my clients' brief, allowing them to make memories within them," Haag previously told us. "These are the moments that mean the most to me."

We've had the pleasure of stepping inside her twice-renovated mid-century home as well as her dreamy beachfront weekender on Phillip Island.

2. Josh and Jenna Densten

The Block stars Josh and Jenna Densten, have been renovating houses since they were 18-years-old. They bought their first house in East Albury and that's where Jenna's love of interiors began, as she explained when we toured the couple's incredible pink-hued cottage. They then moved into an airy and impeccably designed family home (honestly, their living room is what dreams are made of) they built for their growing family, which is literally situated on the same block and their cottage.

In addition to running the Design School, Jenna serves stylish - and extremely wholesome - home renovation inspiration on Instagram.

3. Claudia Stephenson

This interior designer wants people to live with intention through their interior choices. "I personally don’t like to hang on to too much," she explained when we visited her impeccably curated home in Sydney's North Shore. "I am forever passing things on that once lived happily with me but tastes and moods change and I evolve with it." One look at her Instagram account and you'll understand why the words "impeccably curated" are so appropriate.

4. Jessica Bellef

Bellef is a writer and interior stylist, and spent almost eight years as the style director of homewares juggernaut Temple & Webster. She's considered one of the most reputable voices in Australian style, spending her days helping brands with their aesthetic and communication. Her wisdom and eye for interiors can be seen throughout her Sydney home, which looks like it's straight out of the '70s. If you're obsessed with vintage, Bellef is definitely one to follow.

5. Tali Roth

After relocating back to Caulfield North in Melbourne from years spent living in New York, interior designer Tali Roth has been busy working with clients in both the US and at home. What sets her apart is her ability to seamlessly fuse her Manhattan-cool interior style with that of the fresh, modern Australian one. Plus, her carefully-curated gallery walls are show stopping.

You can step inside her gorgeous Melbourne home here.

6. Geneva Vanderzeil

Geneva Vanderzeil is a DIY enthusiast, to put it lightly. The professional crafter turned author first began sharing her upcycling skills online (on her website Collective Gen and Instagram) before writing two books about how to incorporate simple hobby projects into your day-to-day life.

Vanderzeil describes her interior style as “balanced”. What she means by that is drawing from different styles—she’ll throw together antiques with more modern pieces of furniture, use paint and artwork to direct the flow of a room, and place potted house plants in every corner, just to bring life into a space—in order to achieve a home that feels personal and intimate.

She's the master of home projects, so much so that she transformed a 150-year-old workers cottage in Brisbane into a stunning home, which you can tour here.

7. Phoebe Nicol

Actually an interior architect, Phoebe Nicol is an expert at elevated minimalism. She's also the co-owner of The Vault Sydney, a premium antique shop with the inventory of our dreams. "I've been interested in interior design since I was around 10-years-old," she told us when we toured her stunning terrace in Kings Cross. "When I was young I would spend hours re-arranging furniture, banging IKEA shelves together and decorating my room to within an inch of its life."

8. Georgia Ezra

This interior architect is also the founder of Tiles of Ezra, and approaches everything she does with authenticity. She's in the business of creating ambience through design and quality craftsmanship.

For her own home, Ezra and her partner truly created the space of their dreams. "Every element throughout this home has been designed and custom made in order for us to achieve a one of a kind end result," she told us when we visited the incredible Caulfield property for our home tour series.

9. Daniel Boddam

This architect and designer's inviting yet sophisticated Byron Bay home is full of warmth. "I have always had a compulsion to create and get excited by the act of making," he told us when we visited for our home tour series. "Predominantly others help make the things I design, so for me it is about collaboration and communication with highly skilled craftsmen."

10. Lynda Gardener

This self-described interior stylist, hotelier, collector and collaborator is one busy woman. Between a styling business, bespoke accommodation spaces and a store, she somehow finds time to upload stunning imagery to the gram.

"When it comes to decorating a space, I get a feel of which way I want to go, what the surrounding colours are, views and aspects and pretty much stick to a very basic palette, leaving as many original features as possible in the house," she told us when we toured her incredible property, the Estate at Trentham. "I try to keep the integrity of the space while adding new elements."

Over the past few years, the Melbourne-based interior stylist has been busy turning a little “slice of land” – an old driveway, in fact – into another dreamy space, 'The Barn'. This luxury holiday accommodation for a couple or a single person looking to lounge around, laze about, and generally just relax is the most calming and cosy stay you could ever ask for. You can take a private tour inside here.

11. Tarina Wood

Expect endless interiors inspiration courtesy of both Tarina's own family home and the homes she styles for a living. Tarina's especially skilled at incorporating punchy colour with a restrained hand and creating kids' rooms that are fun, bright and bold.

12. Catherine Heraghty

Heraghty's go-to colour palette is a refined blend of grey, white and wood—perfect for interiors minimalists. She has a particular knack for striking the balance between polished and personality using accents like interesting tiles, black hardware and lots of greenery.

13. Haus of Cruz

Not just an interiors inspiration follow, the Haus of Cruz is serving so much more. From glimpses into family life (including cameos from a very cute toy Cavoodle called Bella) to calling out small Australian artists and design brands, it's feel good in Instagram form.

14. Ricci Bloch

This Sydney-based architect and interior designer specialises in minimalist, timeless designs. On Instagram, she gives attention to detail and expert insight into the next big interior trends.

15. Megan Morton

Put simply, this account is a maximalist's dream. An uplifting mix of interiors snaps, travel inspo (via @theschoolinstagram's international styling masterclasses) and kooky captions, this acclaimed Australian stylist's ability to pull together colour and texture in a meaningful way is unparalleled.

16. Monica Bean

Monica's styling is clean, simple and sophisticated in the very best way. Despite working with all types of design themes, she manages to construct spaces that feel both expensive-looking and cosy. If anyone can convince you that neutrals can be anything but basic, it's her.

17. Greg Natale

The king of pattern, Greg is renowned for his way with print and colour. (If you think you're not a "colour" person, you just haven't seen his work yet.) Beautiful styling feat. Greg's premium aesthetic is a mainstay but regardless of budget, you'll find inspiration in his ideas.

18. Tamsin Johnson

Tamsin is exceptionally good at sourcing unique pieces you won't find anywhere else. The interior stylist creates personality-driven designs that don't overwhelm—a serious skill. Both her commercial and residential work are unlike anything else you've seen.

19. Lauren Li

Lauren's vibe is fun and relaxed but so carefully considered—you can almost sense the thought process behind each of her designs. She also does a great job seeking out furniture and homewares makers, making her online Journal a destination for anyone on the hunt for a special piece.

20. MHN Design Union

Have you ever passed a building and just thought 'wow'? Well, that's what you get with MHNDU. Founders Brian Meyerson, Kevin Ng and Liam Hancock are regarded as three of Australia's best contemporary architects and for very good reason, too. From high-end bespoke homes to luxury apartments, the trio have worked on a range of multi-award winning projects. Honestly, their feed makes us want to enrol in an architecture course.

21. Flack Studio

In 2015, The Design Files predicted Melbourne interior designer David Flack would be the "next big thing", and they were right. In the space of five months of launching Flack Studio back in November 2014, he managed to score four massive projects under his belt. Now, fast forward just over six years and Flack is considered one of — if not the leading interior designers in the country (he's even styled singer Troye Sivan's Melbourne home). Scroll through Flack Studio's feed and you'll definitely pick up on what people mean when they refer to the 'Flack flair'.

22. Patina Design Studio

If we could pick anyone with the most outstanding and extensive resume, it would have to be Jacqui Hurwitz. The founder of Patina Design Studio has worked on a multitude of projects including Vivid Sydney, five-star hotels, bars and high-end residential homes all around the world from South Africa to Toronto. Now calling Sydney her home, Hurwitz is a regular at sharing design inspiration of beautiful marble furniture, velvet couches, ceramics, trending lamps and so much more.

23. Arent&Pyke

What has gained Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke over 102k followers on Instagram at the time of writing, is their ability to show people how they can use interiors to tell a story, reflect specific personalities and push boundaries.

The duo's style is classic with understated bold colours, and they focus largely on robust and natural materials.

24. Mathieson Architects

Mathieson Architects represents timeless design with a strong sense of scale, form and material. The founder Phillip Mathieson's Modernist approach to design has gained an honourable reputation in Australia and overseas, working across a range of residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. His team's attention to detail is reflected on the business' carefully-curated Instagram feed.
