24 Most Popular Home Tours in 2021

1. Justine Cullen's Coastal Family Home

Editor and author Justine Cullen injected her effortlessly chic aesthetic into her coastal abode in Sydney's Palm Beach.

Swathed in predominantly white, her waterside abode – which she shares with her husband and four sons – is fresh and timeless. And while the interior colour palette may be led by neutrals, the home is filled with plenty of character with its stained glass windows, exposed rafters, and coastal-style finishes.

After completely gutting a 1980s ranch, Claire Thomas and cinematographer Yayo Ahumada expertly transformed it into a sunny retreat referred to as ‘Oeste Home’.

Swathed in predominantly warm hues and decorative tiles and filled with handmade textiles and natural textures, the oasis is a charming homage to Yayo’s homeland, Mexico, and one that effortlessly transports you to the beautifully sunny country.

4. Nicolette Johnson's eclectic rental home meets art studio

Ceramicist Nicolette's art-filled rental abode and studio is eclectic and filled with secondhand and vintage pieces. It's home to a
mix of fabrics, objets d'art, and art that has been bought from and swapped with other artists. It truly feels like an artist's retreat.

We love how the overall home is almost as unique as her ceramics and how it doesn't fit neatly into one specific style. It exudes a look and feel that is entirely individual and showcases her creative self wonderfully.

5. Kendall Sargeant's Relaxed Venice Beach Home

Patience paid off for influencer and public relations expert had been searching for six months for a new space with her partner, visiting house after house looking for the perfect spot. With light-flooded rooms, antique pieces, and an uplifting palette, there's much to love about how she has decorated her home.

The colour palette is muted and cosy, leaning heavily on sage green, classic oatmeal and white, with little touches of turmeric. It's a calming retreat that is, in short, a perfect home base. And our community thinks so too!

6. Jordan Ferney's Maximalist Manhattan Rental

Maximalist design is certainly having a moment, but it's also not one of the easiest styles to nail. As an editor of Domino magazine, the founder of experiential colour and art exhibit, Color Factory, and the founder of party and craft media site and online store, Oh Happy Day, we can all agree that Jordan Ferney has mastered the style.

The beautifully layered room's boast colour and a fearless amalgamation of pattern, executed in a way that's sophisticated and inspiring.

7. Hannah Sindorf's New Mexico Home

Even though it was more than she could afford at the time, something in Hannah Sindorf intuitively knew that this was the right place and time to live in this home. And it's hard to argue with that reasoning given how beautiful it is.

Thanks to her built-in jewellery studio, warm Terracotta linens, and treasure trove of family heirlooms, the stunning rental quickly felt like home. Sentimentality is at the heart of this home which houses countless sculptures fashioned by her late father, cherished photos of family members, and vintage furniture originally purchased by her grandparents in the 1950s.

10. Amanda Callan's Restored Old Church

Founder of Church Farm General Store, Amanda Callan, restored an old church in the small town of Billinudgel in northern New South Wales, into a home for her family.

Eight years ago, it was nothing but an empty hall with a tiny bathroom, but Callan had a feeling. After some much-needed renovations—raising the church from the ground to protect it from flooding, adding a deck, a mezzanine, more bathrooms and a bedroom space—the church became a home for their family of six. Callan kept the majority of the church’s interior open — her sprawling living, kitchen and dining area continue to stun on our Instagram feed.

Located only an hour and a half drive away from the couple’s Ringwood residence in Melbourne (which we previously toured here) and a stone’s throw from the beach, interior designer Simone Haag has created a breathtaking weekender on Phillip Island. Lovingly dubbed Angler’s Shack, it's a sanctuary reminiscent of the perfect Australian holiday retreat – one she knows will continue to remain a family heirloom where memories are made and laughter is shared. Also, with over 26k likes on Instagram for one of the Shack's bedrooms, three's no denying we could all learn a thing or two from this breathtaking home.

13. Caitlin Robson's Minimal Beige Interior Home

We all know 'beige interiors' is one of the biggest trends of 2021, so it makes sense as to why everyone's obsessed with ceramicist Caitlin Robson's calm minimalist home. Located in the Sydney suburb of Petersham, the space is simple but impactful made possible with natural light, open space and an air of freshness.

Robson has added intrigue to each room in her house through lamps (you need to see her Caprani lamp in her living room), rugs, soft furnishings and special objects, especially ceramic pieces that are interchangeable throughout the house.

14. Madeline Jovicic's Sydney 'European Holiday' Home

With the global pandemic putting a (longer than anticipated) halt on international travel, the hopes of travelling abroad have become a distant dream. However, one step inside Madeline Jovicic’s Sydney rental apartment and the sounds and sensations of a European summer holiday instantly come alive.

If you picture yourself sitting on her fresh white boucle armchair with her sand-coloured rug, a gallery wall of her own pastel paintings and natural sunlight beaming in through the open glass doors, you could almost be relaxing beachside, indulging in scoops of gelato and sipping on Limoncello. It's really pure bliss.

15. Bobby Clark's Artistic Melbourne Home

If there's one thing you do today, make sure it's checking out Bobby Clark's incredible statement art wall in her living room. And while you're there, you'll also want to take a look throughout the artist's entire space.

A plush velvet couch in the living room complements the matching dining chairs, her own statement artworks are hung on walls throughout the space, and the bedroom decor is kept simple with subtle pops of colour.

Just over three years ago, Bobby and her partner moved into a "cold" house located in Melbourne's Thornbury, but somehow, they managed to turn it into a magical home – without a single renovation.

16. Jess Tran's Plant-Filled Brooklyn Loft

It's difficult to scroll past a plant-filled room on social media and not stop to take a minute to admire the beauty.

17. Tali Roth's Melbourne Home

Interior designer Tali Roth and her husband and children moved back to Melbourne after living in New York for a few years, and settled into their new home. No renovations, no touch-ups, no little projects. Just straight into the space in Caulfield North, which used to belong to Roth’s grandmother. In the space of just four months, Roth transformed the old building into a family home, purely off the back of the furniture, artwork and decorating accents that she previously owned in New York.

The result is a testament to Roth’s eye as a designer, that she has been able to so seamlessly translate her Manhattan-cool interior style into a fresh and modern Melbourne home. From the airy living space with its portrait gallery of pictures hanging above the sofa – her favourite room in the house – to the bedroom, it's the definition of chic and serene.

20. Jessalyn Brooks' Converted Warehouse

Over the past ten years, painter Jessalyn Brooks has transformed a sprawling warehouse into a creative hub, both for her painting and artworks, and for her life.

“It was just raw studio space when I first moved in,” she recalls. “[I] built all the walls, all that stuff. I used to work at an old architectural wrecking yard when I first moved in and the owner was kind enough to give me a bunch of junk to furnish my place with.” However, her incredible bookshelf the bedroom looks anything but "junk".

The pair moved to Melbourne in February and fell in love with this inner-city flat because of its space to create, its soaring windows and its second-to-none view over the city.

Honestly, we regularly dream about lounging on their twin squidgy red armchairs by Togo (one of the most sought after interior pieces of 2021!).
